Organograms

A diagram that shows the structure of an organisation and the relationships between the different people, departments, and jobs at different levels within that organisation

Organograms (also known as org charts) show the structure of organisations - in our case UK Government departments.

The gallery presents an overview of a number of government departments (from May 2014). Click a department to explore it in more detail.

After selecting a department you can click and drag to pan, scroll up/down to zoom. Use pinch and drag gestures on touchscreens. Hover over a circle for more information.

This app uses data collated by the Institute for Government for the Hacking Organograms hackday. See Gavin Freeguard's article for more detail. The original data is from data.gov.uk.

I first explored these ideas when working with Tom Rees. This new design and build was started in November 2019 at Brighton Generator.

Design and build by Peter Cook. This is an open source project and contributions are welcome.
